Villas for Sale in Dominican Republic

Geography

In the heart of the Caribbean, washed by the waters of the Atlantic Ocean to the north and the impetuous Caribbean Sea in the south nestles a placid and beautiful country officially called The Dominican Republic. Christopher Columbus first discovered the island on December 5th 1492 during his first voyage to the New World.

The geography of the Dominican Republic is greatly diverse, ranging from arid semi-desert plains, to lush valleys and tropical rain forests with 27 different climatic zones; resulting in a wide variety of incredibly beautiful vegetation. The topography of the Dominican Republic consists of a range of highland and lowland areas, offshore islands, rivers and lakes, all of which contribute in some way or another to the varied beauty of the country.

Most visitors come for its magnificent gold or white sand beaches of the country's 1633 kilometers of coastline. But the interior has an amazing amount to offer visitors as well. There are five mountain ranges that run through the country. The Cordillera Central, the runs through the centre of the country, is the highest mountain range on the island, and includes Pico Duarte, the highest mountain in the Caribbean, at 3175 meters (11,000 feet).

Miches is a beautiful location just north of the Punta Cana/Bavaro resort area. With miles of white sand, untouched beachfront, thousands of palm trees and ecologically protected nature parks and other protected areas, Miches has something for everyone.

From adventure tourism to cultural explorers, Miches has the natural resources that will make it a most sought after location in the Dominican Republic.

Located on the Southern side of the Samana Bay, north of Punta Cana, but not far from La Romana or Santo Domingo, Miches is an ideal location for whale watching from February - April each year when the whales make their annual migration.

Its natural beauty and rich history will fascinate and excite those who visit The Dominican Republic.
